The Power to Serve

The Power to Serve Workshop is an in-house and custom designed workshop for enterprises who want to improve their overall knowledge-sharing systems, to include Microsoft Sharepoint and other knowledge-sharing tools deployed.

While geared more for end users, this modular workshop optionally sets aside time at the front-end to install or upgrade Microsoft Sharepoint & Project servers (and any other pre-requisites). Installations are performed by our own Microsoft-certified associates.

This 5- to 7-day workshop is custom-tailored to your organizational needs – from helping marketing staff get the most from Sharepoint collaborations, to helping project managers share & collect data using Microsoft Project. This workshop brings together your IT,  HR, marketing and PMO teams so everyone winds up on the same shared page.

Workshop Goals

The Power to Serve Workshop goals are simple:

  1. Upgrade or install a state-of-the-art knowledge-sharing system, and build capacity within your IT group.
  2. Train managers in the art of sharing information (whether it be project, HR or marketing-related data)
  3. Set plans for further enhancing your organization’s ability to share knowledge and data after the workshop concludes

How We Deliver

The Power to Serve Workshop is delivered in-house, with an optional advance team that will inspect, upgrade and otherwise make functional your systems. The remaining workshop days are spent with users of the system, making sure they are proficient and comfortable with changes made.

In addition, all of our workshops are participatory in nature, and allow time for experience sharing as well as a pre-flight expectation gathering. Our trainers are also skilled at gauging how the workshop is progressing and can adjust both the pace and content. Every workshop includes a comprehensive training report upon completion, that gives your management team a blow-by-blow accounting. using daily feedback results from each participant.

Workshop materials are all-digital in format, and provided to all registrants via this website (user registration required). Once your registration is confirmed, all materials can be downloaded at anytime – forever!. Specifically included with this workshop:

The Power to Persuade

The Power to Persuade  Workshop is for anyone who needs to present knowledge and data in the most persuasive way possible – visually – as we well as through the proficient spoken word. This workshop is based on the best-selling book: slide:ology (The Art and Science of Creating Great Presentations) by Nancy Duarte, and the techniques taught during this workshop were used when producing Al Gore’s Oscar-winning documentary, An Inconvenient Truth.

This 3-day workshop can be delivered in-house (with specific deliverables in mind) and is also run as a public workshop. This workshop will make anyone a better public presenter and prevents death by powerpoint. In addition, those who struggle with visual or oral communication will find this an essential step towards improvement.

The Power to Persuade Workshop is for both the beginning presenter or public speaker, as well as for the most experienced, and is also of great interest to graphic designers of all skill levels.

Workshop Goals

During this workshop, participants will achieve the following:

  • Explore the classic triad relationship found in persuasive storytelling (the story, the teller and the presentation)
  • Practice proper storytelling in a group setting
  • Learn the fundamental ABCs of visual grammar
  • Design presentations using best practices (think, design, then construct)
  • Use free mind-mapping tools to aid in the preparation of a persuasive presentation
  • Explore how to use Microsoft Powerpoint in a way that prevents “death by powerpoint”
  • Learn how to properly present in front of small or large audiences
  • Deliver a newly-created presentation in front of a video camera, and then review the results

In short, this workshop teaches you skills that will help you:

Come join two or more (maybe all) of the following long-time residents and writers living in the KTM Valley: Jigs, John, Lucia and Uttam for The Power to Write & Edit Like a Pro (in just 1 day).  Here, in a relaxed venue and either on a Friday or a Saturday, this team will help you become a better writer & editor, but not in months or weeks – instead, in  just a few hours!

This public workshop (only held in Kathmandu, Nepal) is guaranteed to make you a better professional writer or editor  – or your tea break allowance will be refunded. No, seriously, how could you go wrong spending one day with two, three or more professional writers with over a century or more of combined writing & editing experience?

This day is for any writer or editor, aspiring or expiring, who wants to brush up on or otherwise improve their writing & editing skills.

Workshop Goals
