Lucia de Vries is a Phoenix trainer who is also a journalist and communication consultant with a special interest in development issues, media training, human rights issues, oral history, children’s books and film making.
Lucia will often be a guest presenter in many of our workshops – so look for her to appear in any of our communication-related workshops to talk about writing & editing worldwide.
Writing & Editing
With thirty years of journalistic experience, Lucia works as a feature writer and reporter for English language papers such as Nepali Times & Kathmandu Post, as well as Dutch language dailies such as Trouw & Nederlands Dagblad.
Lucia is the founder of various publications, including the popular magazines Face to Face and Haka Haki, and has decades of experience as an editor. With a Master’s degree in Peace Studies, she is not only fluent in journalistic editing but also has experience with academic editing.
Lucia De Vries has worked as a communication consultant for many international (as well as local) development agencies and projects: SNV Nepal, Lutheran World Federation, Rural Reconstruction Nepal, South Asia Alliance for Poverty Eradication, Indymedia Nepal, ICIMOD, Community Literacy Development Project, World Education, The Mountain Institute, Enabling the State Programme and Jagaran Media Center. Lucia’s work with these organizations included editing, print production, report writing & report production, photography, social media development and more.

Lucia De Vries is co-founder of Sunbird Publishers, which has produced various children’s books translated in Nepali and English. Her own publications include:
