Uttam Uprety, Lead Advisor for PCATWW

Uttam Uprety has been associated with civil society improvement in various capacities since 1990. As a professional trainer and facilitator, he has trained thousands of development professionals from most continents. Uttam started his career in development sector as an environmental activist, and later developed a keen interest in CSO capacity building and participatory development. He has years of experience in managing community development projects in remote Nepali villages. In addition, he has designed and facilitated countless trainings for development professionals in Nepal, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Myanmar, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Kenya and Bhutan.

Uttam has much experience in training on Monitoring and Evaluation, Results-based Management, Project Designing and Proposal Writing, Professional Report Writing, Project Management Skills, Training and Facilitation Skills. In addition, he has facilitated various planning and review events, including team building workshops for UN agencies, international NGOs and business houses. He has also facilitated dozens of strategic planning sessions for various Nepali NGOs.

I  have helped various development organizations in designing M&E Plans and writing M&E guidelines for effective implementation of these important plans. I’ve also carried out several evaluations studies for projects funded by the European Union, UN agencies and many multilateral donors.”

Civil Society Capacity Building is his passion, and Uttam is currently a PhD student with the Kathmandu University School of Education, Development Studies. His research interest is in civil society capacity & governance. He is currently associated with the Governance Facility as Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist.
